After changing presets in Lightroom and playing with the split toning a bit I’ve come to a happy medium that incorporates some of the aspects of all three types of post processing I have read about. Those being lomography, antiquing, and cross processing. Lomography stems from an older camera that really was a piece of junk by SLR standards but it made a really unique photo color and contrast. Antique photo’s (think sepia) are everywhere and are often over used by home photo editors because it makes a poor contrasted or exposed picture look a little better in one click. Then there’s cross processing. In the old days photographers would cross process photos by exposing them to chemicals designed for a different type of paper. In other words, they would use the wrong chemical on purpose in order to effect a color and contrast change in the final picture. This brings about life in a flat image and makes the image unique.
By applying all three of these styles I have come up with a style that suits me. There are some greens and funky highlights from the lomo effect, some browns from the antique, and more highlights and contrast from the cross processing.
